Q. Aren’t all djs the same?
A. NO! There are many different types of DJs and it is important to ask the proper questions. Many will focus on their sound or lighting, that’s because that is what is important to them.
Fun Factory focuses on the event itself. I do have a large sound and light show but it is more important to read the crowd and play the appropriate music to keep the guests dancing. I will also be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
To give you an idea how important your entertainment decision is, check out these figures.
- Martha Stewart recently stated in her magazine Martha Steward Living that "the entertainment you select for your wedding or party is responsible for 80% of the events' success and the memories you will have for the rest of your life."
- 50% of your wedding day is spent at the reception.
- 80% of the reception is the dance.
- and the #1 fear in America is public speaking.
With that degree of importance, your entertainment selection is not just important, it’s essential! Without an experienced MC/DJ, your reception could be a disaster.
Q. How Long have you been a DJ in Wisconsin?
A. Fun Factory has entertained audiences throughout Wisconsin for over 16 years.
Q. How do we know you’re good?
A. I have an impeccable track record with numerous references in writing. I am also a member of the Global Mobile Entertainer Association, the Bridal Association of America, the Association for Wedding Professionals and the founder of the Northeast Wisconsin DJ Alliance.
To be a member of the above organizations, you must meet strict requirements and are evaluated by other DJs and event professionals from across the country. I would welcome an opportunity to meet in person to discuss any questions or concerns before you book your event. Just call for an appointment.
Don't just take my word for it, visit the testimonials page to see customer comments in their own handwriting.
Q. Are you insured?
A. Yes. This is a question many people never ask. It is very important that your entertainment company be insured. Fun Factory is insured for both liability and equipment coverage.
Q. Is your music censored?
A. Yes. Whenever possible, I purchase radio and clean edits of certain songs. I subscribe to the TM Century Prime Cuts line of CDs which is a weekly delivery of the hottest music. I receive music at the same time as radio stations. All the Prime Cuts radio edits conform to FCC regulations.
Q. Why are your prices higher than some other DJs?
A. I am not a "hobby dj" that does this part-time.
Providing professional, quality entertainment is WHAT I DO. I DJ full-time and offer many services which the average DJ will not offer. I spend thousands of dollars every year on new music and updated equipment.
There is a saying in the wedding industry. "A great DJ is not expensive, they are priceless!" The DJ industry is one where you truly "get what you pay for."
Q. Are there travel expenses to travel outside Appleton?
A. There is no fees for travel in the Fox Valley and surrounding areas. Depending on highway access, there may be travel expenses for events outside of an approximate 50 mile radius of Appleton.
Q. Will you provide assistance in planning our event?
A. Yes. This is a very important step in ensuring that your event is exactly what you want. Since I do over 75 events a year, I have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of other vendors (photographers, florists, bakers, etc.) Feel free to ask me for my recommendations. I also offer FREE personal consultations whenever you need them. You should plan on at least one consultation at least a month prior to the event.
Q. What time will you arrive to set up?
A. My set-up time depends on the venue and its location. Many times I will set up in the early afternoon. However, some venues are smaller and have tables in the set-up area. This will require me to set up after dinner. At the very least, I will arrive 1-1/2 hours prior to an event.
Q. Do you have written contracts and receipts for our records?
A. Yes. Many people who do not receive a contract are left without entertainment because their DJ cancelled the week before an event, many times for a higher paying event. Without a contract, there is no guarantee that your entertainment will show up. Receipts are given for any payment upon request.
Q. Do you offer a guarantee?
A. Yes. Very few DJs offer a guarantee. Call for guarantee details.
Q. What music do you have?
A. I carry music of every type. Country, polkas, top 40, rock, oldies, disco, 80’s, 70’s, dance, techno, rap, latin and more.
Q. How will the DJ dress for our event?
A. I have specific dress codes depending on the event I am working for. For formal events (weddings, proms), I tuxedo attire. For other events that are more casual, I may wear corporate i.d. apparel (shirts with our logo on them). We have also had fun by dressing according to an events theme. Beach, Halloween, Holiday, Sock Hop and more. For any event, attire must be clean, pressed and wrinkle free.
Q. Can we bring cds?
A. Yes. If there is something you want to hear and would like to bring it, feel free. As long as it is on CD, I can play it.
Q. How much do you require down?
A. $250 booking fee reserves your date. I offer payments by MasterCard, Visa and Discover for your convenience.
Q. Do you offer any discounts?
A. Non-Saturday events receive a $50 discount.
I have multiple other ways for you to save money. As a Carlson Craft dealer, you can get 30% off your invitations and accessories, commonly saving $150 - $350. I also have a quarterly newsletter which has cost saving tips and planning ideas to help relieve the stress of planning an event. I have even set up an online party supply store so that you can buy props and supplies at reduced prices.
I have also teamed up with JDS Engraveables to offer engraved wedding items and gifts at reduced rates. You can order online by clicking here.
Q. Why would I want to hire you for cocktails and dinner?
A. For this service, I set up before anyone else arrives. No noise or distractions. I can check on certain items to make sure everything else in the room is in order. Your guests will feel uplifted and ready for 'dance' music. We can have a smooth transition from dinner music to the first dance, and dinner music will make your event feel more elegant and classy.
Q. Do you get involved with the crowd?
A. The key to our involvement is your personal consultation. I can tailor your event to your likes and dislikes. Some people want a lot of interaction and others want a more elegant feel. Either way I can get the crowd involved without turning your event into a carnival filled with "games."
